Step 1. Note that the setting is performed in the camera application itself, not in the iPhone Settings. So the first step is to open the iPhone camera.

Step 2. Now, before taking any picture, make sure that the "Live" option is inactive. It is represented by the icon of several yellow concentric circles, as indicated in the image.

Step 3. The message "Live inactive" will appear at the top of the screen. This indicates that Live Photo is turned off and you can capture lighter images.

How to convert Live Photos images into still photos

If you have images captured with the active Live Photo feature and you want to convert them to normal photos to free up space, you can do this by the Photos app.
