How to use Google Translate on Facebook Messenger

You can use Google Translate on Facebook Messenger with a few steps. The Google app for Android has a feature that can translate texts from your phone's clipboard. The "Tap to translate" function is interesting for instantly converting conversations into messengers such as Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. When you enable the feature, the Google translation application icon appears on the screen whenever something is copied. Just tap the button to access the translation without leaving the app.

The procedure was performed on a Moto E4 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but the tips are also valid for other phones with the Google system. Step 1. Open Google Translate and touch the menu button in the upper left corner of the screen. Then tap Settings. You must be logged in to a Google account to complete the procedure;

Step 2. Open "Tap to translate" and activate the feature;

Step 3. Tap "Enable" to confirm. The Android Settings app opens. From there, you need to enable the option "Allow overlap to other apps";

Step 4. Access Facebook Messenger and find the message you want to translate. Touch it and hold your finger for a moment. Then go to "Copy" in the lower left corner of the screen;

Step 5. The Google Translate icon will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen. Tap on it to see the translation of the copied message. The source language will be set automatically. If you want to change it, simply touch the detected language. Finally, touch the "X" to close the translation and return to the conversation.
