How to hide when online on Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger started to show when your friends are online, whether on Android or on iPhone (iOS). Unlike what happened before, where the messenger just informed who was online, it now shows a notification of when a particular contact has connected to the application.

The feature appeals to the most curious, but can be hated by those who are more reserved - as is the case with WhatsApp's online status. With the function on, it is more difficult to escape from unwanted conversations. If you want to know how to disable online availability and increase your privacy in Messenger, follow the step-by-step instructions below.

How to customize conversations in Facebook Messenger

Step 1. Open Facebook Messenger. Note that with the feature enabled, the app shows how many minutes each contact is online. To deactivate the function, first touch the menu of your profile, represented by a circle with your thumbnail in the right corner of the screen, as highlighted in the image below. Then go into Availability.
